Foley is considering the sell of property to a company called Baldwin Cold Logistics to build a cold storage facility in the city. The City Council will discuss selling two parcels of land in the Foley Beach Express Industrial Park, according to the proposed resolution at the Nov. 4th council regular/work session.

Baldwin Cold Logistics is planning a facility with a 30,000-square-foot freezer, a 5,000-square-foot refrigerator, 100 to 120 units ranging from 1,600 to 1,800 square feet and two-story units with warehouse and office space.

According to the purchase agreement attached to the agenda, the city will get $734,000 for 14.68 acres in the park.

The proposed buyer, Baldwin Cold Logistics, is a registered domestic LLC which was formed by local  attorney Mark Taupeka of Orange Beach. Taupeka is also listed as the agent of record for the business.

The council will meet at 4 p.m. in council chambers.

During the joint regular/work session, the council will also:

  • Conduct a public hearing to consider amendments to the zoning ordinance about “Greenbelt Zones.” This will also be the second reading and the council is expected to vote on the change in the Nov. 4 meeting.
  • Receive a report on impact fee fund activity showing the city collected $3.9 million in impact fees in fiscal year 2024 which ended on Sept. 30.
