Orange Beach is looking to move forward with the Finance Department’s new wing at city and will consider awarding the bid to Rolin Construction for $1.7 million.

The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the community center in a joint regular/work session. A flood damage prevention board meeting will proceed the council meetings at 4:50 p.m. Council chambers at city hall are currently being renovated and meetings will be at the community center until the work is completed.

During the regular session, the council will also consider:

• Approving 204 vendor checks paid out by the city in June totaling $1.9 million.
• Donating two vehicles to the city of Creola, one a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe four-wheel drive, the other a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe two-wheel drive.
• Authorizing the purchase of social media data collection and analysis services from Voyager Labs for the police department for $35,000.
• Authorizing a change order with John G. Walton Construction, the Canal Road contractor, to extend the multi-use trail in front of the Justice Center as part of the ongoing project at a cost of $72,025.
• Authorizing a contract with GeoCon Engineering and Materials Testing to provide testing for the conversion of the soccer and football field to artificial turf for $2,650.
• Buying a mass notification system at the recreation center for Expect Excellence for $31,295 from Vision Security Technologies.
• Authorizing an easement agreement for the Orange Beach Water Authority to install a water force main at the Sportsplex. It is part of a project from Lauder Lane to Collegiate Lane on the west side of the Sportsplex.
• A resolution authorizing the execution of a lease agreement with the Orange Beach City Board of Education for weight room and storage facilities. This will be located in the property the city recently purchased west of the school containing mini storage units.
• A resolution authorizing execution of a reciprocal agreement to exchange tax information with Baldwin County.
• A cooperative agreement between the city and the Alabama Department of Transportation to allow the city to install drainage and a pedestrian pad within the state’s right of way on beach road near the Palm Point shopping plaza.
• An ordinance change in the Phoenix West II planned unit development to add a restaurant and pavilion on the first floor near the pool area. It will be for the use of tenants and guests only. There will be a public hearing before the council vote.
• An ordinance change in the Summer Salt PUD for a modification to the sign for Summer Salt/Beachside Mini Golf. There will be a public hearing before the council vote.

During the work session, the council will discuss:

• Setting a public hearing for an appeal from Ike’s Beach Service on a business license denial. The requested date was Aug. 15.
• Awarding a bid for the milling, paving and striping of State Route 180 near the new Fire Station No. 3.
• Awarding the bid for replacing the roof at the Recreation Center.
• Hiring DuncanCounts for lobbying services for $2,000 a month plus expenses.
• Authorizing a contract with Sawgrass Consulting for a boundary survey of property recently acquired by the city at 26192 Canal Road. The council voted at its June 20 meeting to purchase the home for $860,000 from Bert and Mary Taylor. It is located west of the PowerSouth substation and north of the Justice Center.
• Authorizing a contract with Sawgrass Consulting for land surveying of the vacation of a sanitary sewer easement on the Romar Lakes development’s Windward Lakes property.
• Authorizing a lease agreement with the post office.
• Hiring McCollough Architecture to design a veterans’ memorial for $16,000.
